The 2017 IIHF World Junior Championship has come and gone and no matter who you cheer for, you cannot deny how exciting the last few games of the tournament were. The yearly tournament is very popular in National Hockey League locker rooms as many players in the league have participated in it over the years.
The Chicago Blackhawks locker room had a lot of fun with the World Juniors during the final two rounds and Patrick Kane benefitted the most from the United States back-to-back shootout wins on their way to the gold medal.
Teammate Artemi Panarin admitted that he lost $500 to Kane over Team USA’s victory over Russia in the semi-finals, but Kane probably got more satisfaction from his winning bet in the gold medal game. Because the United States knocked off Canada in the tournament final, Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews had to wear some red, white and blue after the Blackhawks win over the Nashville Predators Sunday night.
Don’t feel too bad for Toews because he has the ultimate trump card as he knocked out Kane and Team USA in the 2007 WJC semi-finals on his way to a gold medal!
