While Bill Foley, the proud new owner of an NHL franchise, has spent most of the summer teasing the hockey world with potential names for the upcoming Las Vegas expansion, this much we know for sure: the team's nickname will include the word "Knights."
What we don't know is what descriptor will be placed behind the word "Knights."
According to Steve Carp of the Las Vegas Journal, the name will be formally announced by mid-October. Carp writes:
"Everything is a go after months of deliberation, going through legal hoops to secure the trademarks, copyrights and domain names and that the team will be called either the Silver Knights, the Desert Knights or the Golden Knights. 'The name is definitely set,' Foley said Monday from California. 'But I can't tell you what it is. That's a secret."
All three names have been trademarked by the Vegas ownership group, Black Knight Sports & Entertainment.
If it was up to you, would you choose Silver Knights, Golden Knights or Desert Knights?
