The 2016-17 National Hockey League season has seen its fair share of streaks since opening night in October.  The season started with the Montreal Canadiens not losing in regulation until their 11th game of the year.  We have seen a 10-game winning streak by the Philadelphia Flyers and the Minnesota Wild winning 12 games in a row.

No streak has been more impressive than the one the Columbus Blue Jackets are currently riding.  With their 3-1 over the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday night, the Jackets have now won 16 straight games.  They are now just one win shy of tying the 1992-93 Pittsburgh Penguins for the longest winning streak in NHL history.

The odds makers at Bovada have taken notice and now list the Blue Jackets as the favorite to win the 2017 Stanley Cup at 7/1, which is very impressive considering they were 28/1 to win it all on December 1.

In case you are wondering, those 1992-93 Penguins lost in the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs to the New Jersey Devils.
