St. Louis Blues defenseman Rob Bortuzzo’s wallet is going to be quite a bit lighter after his actions during Monday afternoon’s game versus the New York Islanders.
During the second period, Bortuzzo did not appreciate Brock Nelson’s hit on his teammate Magnus Paajarvi. He showed his frustration by knocking Nelson down to the ice with a cross check from behind and then cross checking him two more time while he was down on the ice.
The referees dished out two separate cross checking minors to Bortuzzo, while Nelson was not penalized for his hit on Paajarvi.
The National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety wasted no time in taking action against the veteran blue liner. They announced shortly after the Blues 3-2 shootout win the Bortuzzo’s trio of cross checks will cost him $3,091.40 in fines.
Do you agree with the punishment or was this worthy of a suspension?
