The Columbus Blue Jackets rebounded from a Friday night loss to the Carolina Hurricanes by beating the Detroit Red Wings 2-1 in a shootout on Saturday night.
Artemi Panarin was the offensive star with the Blue Jackets lone goal and one of the two shootout goals, but the night belonged to 2017 Vezina Trophy winner Sergei Bobrovsky at the Little Caesars Arena.
Bobrovsky made 31 saves during regulation and gave up just one goal in an excited 18 round shootout. Late in the first period, with the Blue Jackets up 1-0, Andreas Anthanasiou and Dylan Larkin came skating in on a 2-on-1 rush, but Bobrovsky’s glove hand was too quick for Larkin.
However, the save of the night came in overtime when the hometown crowd thought the game was over when Anthanasiou and Anthony Mantha had a 2-on-0 rush, but Bobrovsky made this miraculous skate save to keep the game alive!
We may not see a better save in a more important situation for the rest of the season.
