The Buffalo Sabres have their “Money Minute” promotion for home games this season at the KeyBank Center this season. A lucky fan gets a chance to win $5,000 if the Sabres can score a goal in the first minute of the third period.
Sabres fan James Kelly went home with a big check on Friday night thanks Jack Eichel. 43 seconds into the third period Eichel fired a wrist shot past Laurent Brossoiit from along the right boards for his seventh goal of the season, making Kelly the happiest man in the stadium!
The goal proved to be the game winner in a 3-1 victor for the Sabres, in a meeting featuring the top two picks from the 2015 NHL Entry Draft in Eichel and Connor McDavid. With the way the Sabres and Oilers have struggled during the first quarter of this season, they could both be picking near the top of next June’s draft as well.
