Calgary Flames forward Matthew Tkachuk already has a reputation for getting under his opponents’ skin. On Saturday, he got Colorado Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog frustrated enough to give him a series of cross-checks including one that got him in the head.
Landeskog was given a two-minor on the play, but there is more punishment on the way. On Sunday, the NHL’s Department of Player Safety announced that Landeskog will have a hearing for his actions tomorrow.
Landeskog is a repeat offender in the eyes of the NHL, so a suspension is likely coming. He was given a two-game suspension in November of 2015 for a hit to the head of Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand. In 2016, he was suspended for three games for cross-checking Anaheim Ducks defenseman Simon Despres in the back of the head.
Do you think Gabriel Landeskog will earn another suspension for this?
Um, Gabriel Landeskog should probably get a call from the DOPS for this cross check pic.twitter.com/c7evKANOF5— Scott Matla (@scottmatla) November 26, 2017
