The Chicago Blackhawks and Minnesota Wild have developed quite the rivalry on the ice over the past few years, but two of their top players made news for the wrong reasons today.
Both Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane and Wild defenseman Matt Dumba were fined $5,000 by the NHL’s Department of Player Safety for some extracurricular activities on Monday night.
Kane was nailed for slashing Anaheim Ducks forward Nick Ritchie, who started the incident by slashing Kane in the back of the legs as he headed to the Blackhawks bench. Kane retaliated with a big two-handed swing that would have made Paul Bunyan proud.

Dumba was fined for squirting Jets forward Joel Armia with a water bottle as he skated by the Wild bench during the first period of Winnipeg’s 7-2 win.
