Former NHLer Brandon Yip has received a suspension in the KHL.
The former Colorado Avalanche, Nashville Predator and Arizona Coyotes forward now plays for the Kunlun Red Star of the KHL.
Last Friday, while the Red Star were playing an away game against the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, during one of the faceoffs, Yip decided to hit one of the Yaroslavl players with an extremely unsportsmanlike low blow.
The referees didn't catch the play, so there was no penalty for the crotch shot, however the KHL has decided to suspend him for three games.
Yip had a great rookie season with the Avalanche, putting up 19 points in 32 games but was never able to regain that magic. The 32 year old has since played in the AHL, ECHL and DEL before he found himself in the KHL this season where he has 11 points in 28 games.
