It's no secret that the Edmonton Oilers are performing well below expectations since the start of the 2017-18 season.

All sources confirm General Manager Peter Chiarelli wants to make a move, and Elliott Friedman spoke about the next player who Chiarelli could be willing to ship out of Edmonton.

Friedman reports that even though Ryan Nugent-Hopkins' name is heard most frequently in trade rumours, Patrick Maroon is likely to be the first to leave Edmonton in the immediate future.

Maroon posted his best career season after joining the Oilers, but most of that was due to the fact that he was paired with Connor McDavid most of the 2016-17 season.

Chemistry seems to have faded since and Maroon no longer plays regularly on the same trio as the young Oilers superstar, which had helped him produce no less than 27 goals in the previous season. The 29 year old will be an unrestricted free agent after this season and has 14 points in 25 games so far.

Who do you think the Oilers will trade first between Maroon and Nugent-Hopkins?
