Carolina Hurricanes owner Peter Karmanos has been thinking about selling the majority of share of hisi team for quite some time and now it appears that he has a taker.
John Shannon of Sportsnet reported on Wednesday that he received confirmation from Hurricanes president Don Waddell that the team is in negotiations with Texas billionaire Thomas Dundon.
There were reports earlier this year that Chuck Greenberg, part owner of the Texas Rangers, was interested in buying the team, but no deal was close to be being done.
Confirmation from Hurricanes’ President Don Waddell that discussions with Dallas billionaire Thomas Dundon are on going to purchase the NHL team. Still unsure what stake Karmanos would retain.— John Shannon (@JSportsnet) November 29, 2017
Even though the two men recently connected to buying the Hurricanes are both from Texas, relocation is not in the future. Shannon also confirmed that the deal being discussed is for controlling interest of the Hurricanes and that relocation is not part of it.
For all those asking... the Hurricanes are committed to Raleigh. Relocation is not an option.— John Shannon (@JSportsnet) November 29, 2017
