It didn't look good on Monday night when Florida Panthers goalie Roberto Luongo had to be helped off the ice.

The 38 year old goalie stayed down after making a save and didn't look like he was able to put any weight on his right leg.

Unfortunately for the team and the veteran goalie, the news is not good after being further evaluated by doctors.

The Panthers will be without their starting goalie for an extended period of time, and that time frame could be around two months.

Panthers head coach Bob Boughner wanted to make it clear that the injury isn't related to Luongo's surgically repaired hip.

With the injury news, the Panthers will roll with James Reimer as their starter and Harri Sateri has been called up from the AHL to serve as Reimer's backup.

Luongo was only able to play 40 games last season due to injury and had played 15 games so far this season with a 2.61 goals against average and .928 save percentage.
