The Columbus Blue Jackets are having a bit of a weird season.
Their recent skid has them falling fast out of a Wild Card spot and they've gone 3-6-1 in their last 10 games.
Now they've lost one of their forwards.
Gregory Hofman took a leave of absence for personal reasons but never ended up returning to the team.
The Blue Jackets have decided to suspend him indefinitely.
The 29 year old has 7 points in 24 games so far this season before he decided to leave.
"Gregory was given permission by the club to step away for personal reasons and informed us today that because of those reasons he has decided not to return," said general manager Jarmo Kekalainen. "Obviously, we are disappointed, but we have no other recourse than to suspend him."
The Blue Jackets traded for Hofman in February of 2021 and he signed a one year contract with the team during the offseason.
