Tonight’s game at the Scottrade Center will be a special one. Not only are two of the top teams in the Western Conference clashing in the St. Louis Blues and Los Angeles Kings, but it will also be Hockey Fights Cancer Night.
The Blues will be wearing special jerseys during their pregame warmup while both of their goaltenders will be going the extra mile. Jake Allen and Carter Hutton will be wearing masks made just for tonight’s game.
Hutton, who is starting tonight, had his masked designed by artist Jesse Acciacca and it is inspired by the “I Fight For…..” signs. It also includes the names of 400 kids who have battled cancer.
Allen’s mask was designed by Alex Pietrangelo’s niece, Ellie Kannel, who was diagnosed with a form of kidney cancer three years ago. It also includes the name of area children who fight the disease.
Both masks will go up for auction after tonight’s game. The proceeds from Allen’s mask will benefit the St. Louis Children’s Hospital while Hutton’s mask will be donated to Friends of Kids with Cancer. For more information on both of these masks you can head over to the Blues official website.
