Some breaking news regarding Minnesota Wild general manager Bill Guerin.

Rick Westhead of TSN reports that the Wild GM is under investigation by the U.S. Center for Safesport USA.

The investigation stems from claims he covered up a sexual assault of the wife of a former Pittsburgh Penguins coach when he worked for the franchise.

Check out a summary from Westhead:

"The U.S. Center for SafeSport has opened an investigation into Minnesota Wild GM Bill Guerin after the wife of a former Pittsburgh Penguins coach alleged Guerin covered up her sexual assault when he worked for the franchise.

Former Pittsburgh Penguins coach Jarrod Skalde alleges that after his wife was assaulted by another Penguins coach, the team never interviewed her or apologized for the assault.

The team then allowed the alleged offender to resign for personal reasons, Skalde says.

It's hard to say how long the Safesport centre's investigation of Guerin might take. The centre will receive more than 3,000 complaints this year and has about 25 investigators.

To be clear, while the US Center for Safesport can't, per se, investigate NHL teams, it does have jurisdiction over active members of USA Hockey, including players, coaches, staff with the Olympic team.
I understand Donatelli is not currently an active member of USA Hockey."
