The Calgary Flames announced some interesting news on Thursday.

The team announced that they've placed veteran forward Troy Brouwer on waivers for purpose of a buyout.

The 32 year old signed with the Flames in 2016, signing a four year $18million contract, the buyout means $1.5million of that will count against the Flames cap hit for the next four years.

Brouwer won the Stanley Cup in Chicago, and had a pretty good run in St. Louis after, however the forward wasn't able to find a proper role in Florida.

With Brouwer gone, we can expect that the Flames will announce a new contract for Noah Hanifin soon.
