Some big drama coming out of the NHL today.
New York Rangers forward Artemi Panarin is stepping away from the team for an undetermined period of time.
Reports out of Russia have just come out stating that Panarin beat up an 18 year old girl in Russia back in 2011.
This report though isn't verified as it seems to come from a very controversial KHL coach, Andrei Nazarov.
However the report is big enough that Panarin will be stepping away from the team.
It's very important to keep in mind that Panarin has been a heavy opponent of Vladimir Putin and his politics in Russia, so this could be a bit of a smear campaign.
Either way, assault is something that has to be taken seriously until all the facts are out.
More details to come.
Breaking news: Panarin is taking a leave of absence from NYR in aftermath of political hit piece against him from Russia alleging that he beat up an 18-year-old girl in Russia in 2011.
