We saw things get pretty tense during last night's game between the New York Rangers and Montreal Canadiens.

While one of the big highlights was Ryan Reaves' beatdown of Michael Pezzetta, it's another punch that's been all over social media.

Canadiens' forward Brendan Gallagher took a swing out of nowhere and knocked Rangers' forward Barclay Goodrow right in the face.

Many people called it a cheap shot and were hoping for a suspension.

The NHL Department of Player Safety announced a decision regarding the play on Wednesday morning.

Gallagher has been fined $2500 for the punch.

The Canadiens' forward was given a game misconduct during the game.
