A bit of a surprising announcement on Monday night. 

Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand has been suspended by the NHL Department of Player Safety. 

He's been suspended for a slewfoot on Vancouver Canucks' defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson. 

The reason it's surprising is because of the NHL's soft stance on the many slewfooting incidents across the league since the start of the season. 

Most notably New Jersey Devils' defenseman PK Subban has been caught doing it a couple of times. 

Marchand has been handed down a 3 game suspension.
