The Edmonton Oilers wanted to add some depth to their blueline, especially with Kris Russel and Oscar Klefbom sidelined with injuries.
Oilers general manager Peter Chiarelli decided to make a move by trading veteran defenseman Chris Wideman and a 2019 third round draft pick to the Florida Panthers.
In return the Oilers receive 6'4" 216lb defenseman Alex Petrovic from the Panthers.
The righty will give the Oilers a boost on the right side of their defense along with some grit and toughness.
Chiarelli will likely need to make a couple of more moves to strengthen their roster for a playoff run.
The draft pick is a third rounder in 2019.
