The Carolina Hurricanes announced on Thursday night that they've traded forward Jeff Skinner to the Buffalo Sabres.
In return the Hurricanes will get Sabres forward forward Cliff Pu, a 2019 second-round pick, a 2020 third-round pick, and a 2020 sixth-round pick.
Skinner will become UFA next season and carries a $5.725-million cap hit for the season.
While on the surface it could look like Skinner is going from bad to worse by going from Carolina to Buffalo, however Skinner will get to at least play on a line with either Jack Eichel or young prospect Casey Mittelstadt.
