It's been an interesting last couple of weeks in the world of hockey and it sounds like it's going to get a bit more interesting over the weekend.
According NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, one Western Conference team is planning on parting ways with their general manager.
Friedman reports that the Arizona Coyotes and general manager John Chayka are headed for a divorce.
“The GM was not in attendance for the team’s scrimmage on Friday afternoon. One source indicated his office had been ‘cleaned out.’”
"Ever since it was reported that John Chayka did not attend a dinner last week with UFA-to-be Taylor Hall, more stories have filtered out about agent/team conversations that did not involve the current GM.”
Chayka was regarded as an analytics wizard before his hiring and has made an interesting couple of moves but just hasn't been able to turn the team into a serious playoff contender.
Not exactly the position you want to be in for a team that only has $1.5million in cap space for next year.
REPORT: There is a “growing sense” that the Arizona Coyotes and GM John Chayka are “headed for divorce,” per @FriedgeHNIC. “The GM was not in attendance for the team’s scrimmage on Friday afternoon. One source indicated his office had been ‘cleaned out.’” #Yotes #OurPack
