Things have been going great for the Tampa Bay Lightning for the first two months of the 2017-18 season. Nikita Kucherov and Steven Stamkos might have to cut the Hart Trophy in half with the way they have led the Bolts to the top of the Eastern Conference.
However, it is not good news out of Tampa these days as not only did they lose to the Boston Bruins on Wednesday night, but they will also be without one of their most physical forwards for Saturday’s game versus the San Jose Sharks.
Cedric Paquette has been suspended by the NHL’s Department of Player Safety for one game after he boarded Bruins defenseman Torey Krug.
The league felt that Paquette had plenty of time to make a “better decision” as Krug turned his body to play the puck and not to avoid the hit. They put the blame on Paquette to change his course of action and deliver his hit in a legal fashion.
