When everybody is in the midst of another intense NHL season, it's sometimes easy to forget there's a life outside of hockey.
Unfortunately that reality hit this weekend.
The Columbus Blue Jackets announced that Patrik Laine's father, Harri, has passed away.
It's a real tough blow for the Laine family and Patrik who has often credited his father with helping him make the NHL.
The Blue Jackets' statement:
The Columbus Blue Jackets extend our deepest condolences to Patrik Laine and his family on the passing of his father, Harri. The family thanks everyone for their support and for understanding their need for privacy during this time.
Laine hasn't played since November 3rd as he deals with an oblique strain.
This will at least give him some extra time to spend with his family.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Laine family at this time.
