This has been a very busy Monday for the Buffalo Sabres. With the team in the midst of a four-game losing streak and at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings, general manager Jason Botterhill has used the day to change up his roster.
He started off by placing veteran forward Matt Moulson on waivers and then he acquired Scott Wilson from the Detroit Red Wings for a 2019 fifth-round draft pick.
Botterhill’s next move could be moving one of his two net minders. According TSN’s Darren Dreger, the Sabres have been getting some phone calls from around the league checking in on the availability of both Chad Johnson and Robin Lehner.
Neither goalie has put up staggering numbers as Johnson has a .883 save percentage and a 3.64 goals-against average in 11 games while Lehner has a .903 save % and 2.98 GAA in 20 games. Both players are in the final year of their current contracts. Lehner will be a restricted free agent this summer while Johnson will be unrestricted.
Teams are calling Buffalo, inquiring on Chad Johnson and Robin Lehner. Just checking on availability.
