Like many teams, the New York Islanders will have some serious salary cap issues next seasons.
The recent signing of Ilya Sorokin doesn't help them either and they'll have to make some serious decisions.
That's why Arthur Staple of The Athletic reports general manager Lou Lamoriello will likely let their UFA's walk while focusing on their RFA's.
That means Matt Martin, Derick Brassard, Tom Kuhnhackl, Andy Greene and Thomas Greiss will hit the free agent market.
With Lamoriello letting five free agents walk don't expect any offer sheet drama for RFA's Mathew Barzal, Ryan Pulock or Devon Toews.
Lamoriello has shown that he can get crafty with the salary cap in the past, however unless he can trade one of his ugly contracts he'll likely let those five UFA's walk.
From yesterday: The #Isles have some major work to do in the coming age of the flat salary-cap era.https://t.co/L5bppUuJM8
