The biggest offseason contract talk at the moment involves Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner.

Even with unrestricted free agents like Erik Karlsson, Sergei Bobrovsky, Artemi Panarin and Matt Duchene available, all the focus at the moment is on restricted free agent Mitch Marner.

We've heard some pretty big numbers attached to Marner, usually in the $10-11million mark.

Former NHLer and current NBC analyst Jeremy Roenick was recently asked about the Marner contract and said some of the numbers he's hearing is the "dumbest thing he's ever heard".

Roenick went on to say that Marner hasn't won a cup and isn't a goal scorer and would only pay him $8.75-9million a year on a 8 year deal.

When told a hometown discount for Marner would be about $10million a year, Roenick wanted nothing to do with it.
