The Atlantic Division leading Tampa Bay Lightning received some really tough news on Friday.
The team announced that All-Star defenseman Victor Hedman suffered an injury in Thursday night's game and will be sidelined at least three to six weeks.
He left the game against the Flames on Thursday after a collision with Flames forward Garnet Hathaway. He did not return to the game.
Hedman was selected to the All-Star game and ranked third in the league for points among defenseman with 33 in 44 games. He's played an amazing 25:36 minutes per game this season which ranks him eighth.
The Lightning have build quite the lead in the Atlantic Division as they currently have a 12 point lead on the Boston Bruins and Toronto Maple Leafs who are tired for second place.
It will be interesting to see if they can now keep up the pace with their workhorse on the blueline out for at least a month or two.
