The Edmonton Oilers made some late night house cleaning late Tuesday.
Much like how they recently fired their head coach, the Oilers fired general manager Peter Chiarelli at around 2am.
It’s some interesting timing considering Chiarelli made significant roster moves this week including putting Ryan Spooner on waivers and giving new NHL goalie Mikko Koskinen a significant deal with a 15 no trade clause after Just 27 games in the NHL.
Chiarelli has made two of the most lopsided trades in the NHL over recent years, Taylor Hall for Adam Larsson, and Jordan Eberle for Ryan Strome.
The Oilers now head into the All-Star break.
