Right before free agency opened, the hockey world's eyebrows raised when it was leaked that Artemi Panarin was on the trade block.
After back to back 30 goal seasons in Chicago, the Blackhawks dealt Panarin as a cost cutting measure.
Now with one year left on his deal the sniper has let it be known he's not willing to sign a long term extension with Columbus.
Panarin's agent, Daniel Milstein, explained to The Athletic's Aaron Portzline what exactly the situation is.
“[Panarin] loves the team, he loves the coach. It’s not the team or the way they treat him,” Milstein explained to Portzline. “It’s about, does he want to spend the next eight years in Columbus? That’s the only thing at stake right now. If it was a two-year deal we probably would have done it."
Looks like Panarin loves his teammates, just not the city of Columbus.
