There's a couple of pretty big free agents this summer who will likely cash in big time when it comes to long term contracts.
One of those free agents is Columbus Blue Jackets forward Matt Duchene.
Duchene is looking to cash in on the open market for the first time during his career and this might actually be the only time Duchene has the chance for a home run contract.
There's been a couple of names attached to Duchene however NHL Insider Pierre LeBrun writes that one team is expected to be the front runner.
LeBrun reports that all signs point to Duchene signing in Nashville to play with the Predators.
Duchene has a property in Nashville, connections to the city already and a love for country music on top of the fact that Predators general manager David Poile made a big push for Duchene when Colorado put him on the block.
The big problem here is that Nashville only has $7million in cap space and Duchene is likely to make around $9million a season on the open market.
Captain Roman Josi is also looking for a big raise and new contract soon too, this is why all the trade rumors add up.
PK Subban and Kyle Turris are both reportedly on the trade block and both will likely have to be moved to have space to sign Duchene.
