The broadcast team at the NBC Sports Network is dealing with another health scare. Color commentator Eddie Olczyk has only called a handful of games this season as he goes through chemotherapy treatment for colon cancer.
On Wednesday, fellow NBCSN analyst on the top broadcast team, Pierre McGuire announced that he was diagnosed with announced that he had been diagnosed with Stage 1 prostate cancer. He revealed that he had the tumor removed on January 4 and plans to be back for NBC’s Olympic coverage next month.
“I had no symptoms at all,” McGuire told USA TODAY Sports. “If I wouldn’t have had a physical, I would have kept going and I never would have known, because nothing was bothering me.”
Before the start of Wednesday night’s game between the Chicago Blackhawks and Minnesota Wild, McGuire’s colleagues Doc Emrick and Mike Milbury shared the news and sent well wishes.
