There was some old school hockey last night in a game between the Detroit Red Wings and Colorado Avalanche.
There wasn't much scoring between the two teams as the game ended 2-0 in favour of the Avalanche, but there was plenty of big hits and fights.
While the fights were some classic, it's a different punch that's really gotten people talking.
Avs' forward Matt Calvert broke up a pass at the Avs blueline between two Wings players, as he was chasing the puck up against the boards Wings' defenseman Mike Green tried to hit Calvert into the Red Wings bench.
Calvert survived the hit but his stick was grabbed by some Wings' and while Calvert got closer to the bench to try and get his stick back he was attacked by multiple Wings' players.
Surprisingly, there was no penalty on the play, however it wouldn't be surprising if the league hands down some sort of discipline.
