The Colorado Avalanche have some of the best young defensemen in the league without a doubt.

However it sounds like they'll have to let one go soon.

According to Avalanche insider Ryan S. Clark of The Athletic, one 25 year old has fallen out of favour with the team.

Despite starting the season as one of the best shut down defenseman on the team and keeping some of the biggest names in the league pointless, he eventually ended up being a healthy scratch.

Nikita Zadorov will be RFA after the season and according to Clark, Zadorov's future likely isn't in Colorado.

Zadorov is one of the best physical defensemen in the league and led the league in hits two years ago.

At just 25 years old, Zadorov still has plenty of hockey left and can easily play in the top four.

However it is a bit of concern how easily he fell out of favour with the Avs' coaching staff.
