The Winnipeg Jets have a nice chunk of cap space this summer available with $25million sitting around, the bad news is they only have 14 NHL roster players signed at the moment.
That $25million will go fast with names like Patrik Laine, Kyle Connor, Andrew Copp, Jacob Trouba and Tyler Myers needing new contracts along with others.
However if negotiations don't go well, one of those might be asking to get out of town.
We've heard that Trouba might request a trade this summer, however he might not be the only one.
According to The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta, Laine might be requesting a trade as well.
"There is a lot of discrepancy in Patrik Laine's desire to be there, ala Jacob Trouba." Pagnotta stated on Siruis/XM.
The Fourth Period added more details on their site after.
"If contract talks fail to get off in the right direction, multiple sources close to the situation have told TFP Editor-in-Chief David Pagnotta that Laine is willing to explore all of his options and that includes the possibility of signing an offer sheet with another club or asking for a trade. Pagnotta reported the news on Saturday afternoon during “Off The Rush” on NHL Network Radio on SiriusXM."
This would be an absolute bombshell and would pretty disastrous for the Jets.
