The Los Angeles Kings season has been a complete disaster.
Los Angeles is the worst team in the NHL right now tied with the lowly St. Louis Blues with only 19 points on the season.
Even with Jonathan Quick returning from injury, their season is pretty much done barring a miracle.
The team has already made a minor deal but it now it looks like the team is ready to strip things down.
First to go according to multiple reports will be big offseason free agent signing Ilya Kovalchuk.
Kovalchuk hasn't had the return to the NHL that Alexander Radulov did during his first season with the Montreal Canadiens.
Kovalchuk has been relegated to fourth line duties in Los Angeles and is currently -13 on the season.
He's still putting up points with 14 points in 24 games and could likely help a team that isn't a mess right now, however his contract presents a road block with a $6.25million cap hit through the 2020-21 season at 35 years old.
