There's been a bit of a goalie controversy over the last couple of weeks regarding the Vegas Golden Knights.
With the latest news, it seems that will continue.
According to Elliotte Friedman, the Golden Knights and Robin Lehner have a handshake deal that will keep Lehner around for awhile.
While Friedman wouldn't confirm the numbers, he acknowledged that right now the rumor is it's a five year deal that comes with an AAV of $5million.
Lehner was expected to be one of the top goalies on the free agent market this offseason but it doesn't look like he'll be going anywhere.
This obviously puts Marc-Andre Fleury in a tight spot as he's got two years left on his deal with an AAV of $7million.
Fleury has a modified no trade clause, but at this point with all the controversy he'll more than likely welcome a trade almost anywhere.
Elliotte Friedman on SN960 says there are rumblings of mutual interest between Lehner and Vegas. Heard same rumours of around 5Mx5. Some wonder if there's already a deal that's been agreed to but nothing on paper right now as far as he can tell .
