The holiday trade freeze is on, but that doesn't mean that GM's across the NHL aren't exploring options for movement when the calendar turns over.

One of the teams that could be making a move is the Buffalo Sabres.

The Sabres need some help up front if they want to keep pace in a very tight Atlantic Division race.

That's why NHL insider Bob McKenzie reports the team is willing to move one of three defensemen to get that forward help.

McKenzie reveals that the Sabres are willing to move one of Colin Miller, Zach Bogosian or Marco Scandella.

"Well, you know a lot of GMs say it’s a great time if you’re looking for a defenceman. Because there are a lot of teams who are ready to shed defencemen and looking for scoring help. The Buffalo Sabres, for example. Colin Miller, Zach Bogosian, Marco Scandella are three names, amongst others, that have been out there for quite some time for the Sabres."

Bogosian had already requested a trade earlier in the month however Sabres GM Jason Botterill hasn't been able to find a taker.
