The New York Rangers bought out defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk last week, just a couple of years after signing him to a massive deal as a free agent.
Health issues were a big concern during his time in New York and he really didn't look anything like the defenseman he was in St. Louis.
A native of New York State, it was a dream come true for Shattenkirk to sign with the Rangers, however it ended up being a disaster when he was bought out.
"I was pretty pissed off about it." reports Stephen Whyno. "I think I have a huge chip on my shoulder right now. It didn’t work out with injuries and performance and with the way the direction of the team, the way that kind of deteriorated from when I signed on July 1 to now."
Shattenkirk added that he's not into the rebuilding going on in New York and isn't a fan of his time in New York.
"It’s definitely not a success story.”
