The Carolina Hurricanes surprised many this offseason when they signed controversial defenseman Tony DeAngelo.
Many believed he would be blackballed from the NHL and it certainly seemed that way after being bought out by the New York Rangers.
However the Hurricanes decided to bring him in anyways.
DeAngelo has been accused of being a racist has openly been a vocal Trump supporter and against vaccinations. He's also started fights with teammates off the ice.
Despite all this, DeAngelo decided to make a surprising decision so he could continue his career in the NHL.
The Hurricanes defenseman has been vaccinated.
DeAngelo has yet to openly discuss his decision however we're sure he'll be asked about it when training camp opens.
