The Detroit Red Wings were unlucky at the NHL Draft Lottery when they dropped down and landed the #4 pick overall.
General manager Steve Yzerman and the Wings mathematically had the best shot at the #1 pick overall but weren't even able to land in the top 3.
As we all know by now, there's been a bit of controversy regarding the lottery draft which included former GM Brian Burke calling it a disgrace.
When Yzerman held a recent conference call, he took some shots too but instead directed them at the Arizona Coyotes.
In case you forgot, the NHL is currently investigating the Coyotes because they've been accused of privately testing prospects on their own instead of at the combine. Arizona is accused of having private workouts with at least 20 prospects which could cost them $250k per player.
This is what set up Yzerman for his shot at the Coyotes as he was asked how this draft is different with teams not being able to test players at the combine.
Yzerman corrected the reporter.
"Every team but one, actually,"
Underrated moment in the Yzerman press conference was when he was talking about how no teams have the testing they normally would have gotten at the combine. "Every team but one, actually."
